1. Build your resume- Employers increasingly want to see
experience in the new college grads they hire.
2. Internships are the best path to gain a job after
graduation.
3. Utilize the skills learned in your academic setting to
complete industry projects. Then bring the skills you
learned in industry back to help you with school
projects!
4. Opportunity to learn or better your soft skills, time and

Errors on your Resume to Avoid!
1. Inconsistent format
2. Too much/not enough white space
3. Spell check important!
4. Not utilizing action verbs
5. Didn’t proofread
6. Don’t include your social security number
7. Don’t include personal information such as citizenship, age,
race, religion, gender, marital status, etc….
8. References can go on a separate document
9. Don’t use first person pronouns
10. You shouldn’t include your picture
