Brief Description of Organization (mission/purpose, types of clients served, services
provided):
The Delta Boot Camp is a facility that serves juveniles ages 13 to 17 who have commited
a criminal offense. It attempts to instill a sense of responsibility for self and respect for
authority into the child, as well as prepare them for the transition of re-entry into society.
The juveniles are assigned case workers, or probation officers, as well as a mental health
specialists who will evaulate their progress.
Intern Duties & Responsibilities (list):
-much of the work will be shadowing the case workers (includes seeing the initial intake,
meetings with the child, meetings with parents, etc)
-reading and filing specific case files (includes the intial court order,
psychological/therapist evaluations, tests that have been conducted (for example, one test
indicates if they might be involved in gang activity...)
-computer work
-attending weekly meetings which discuss the progress of cases
-visiting other campuses
-toward the middle of the internship, I will be assigned a few of my own cases to handle
-others that I am not yet aware of...
