Whereas, at the end of each semester, students are required to complete
evaluations for each of their respective professors,
Whereas, evaluations provide students the ability to praise and or critique the
professors’ effectiveness in teaching,
Whereas, students expect to have their evaluations remain anonymous,
Whereas, some evaluations require students to handwrite comments,
Whereas, over the course of a semester, a professor has the ability to learn
their students’ handwriting
Whereas, not all evaluations and comments are transcribed before being
handed to the respective professor,
Whereas, some evaluations require a student to fill out their respective
demographic information such as what their first language is,
Whereas, despite the fact that grades are posted before student evaluations
are handed to the professor, students may take more courses with a professor they
evaluate
It is resolved that, the Ithaca College Student Government Association
formally recommends to the Interim Provost and Vice President of Educational
Affairs, Linda Petrosino (Academic Policy Committee) that all student evaluations
must be transcribed before a professor receives them,
It is also resolved that, all demographic information be removed upon
transcribing the student evaluations before a professor receives them.
