Families
ROLE DESCRIPTION
PURPOSE
4-H Teen Teachers will develop their own leadership and teaching
skills as they plan and implement hands-on summer nutrition
programs for younger youth.
RESPONSIBILITIES










Participate in the Teens as Teachers 4-H Food Smart Families
program Orientation May 17th, 9am-2pm.
Participate in the Teens as Teachers 4-H Food Smart Families
program trainings (dates/times announced at Orientation).
Select the 4-H Food Smart Families program sites where you
would like to teach. There will be multiple programs conducted
throughout Unit 21, each program will consist of a minimum of
10 hours.
Apply what you learn and deepen your own content knowledge
by teaching others.
Collaborate with other Teen Teachers and/or Adult Mentors
Serve as a positive role model for younger youth as well as your
peer group.
Utilize a variety of teaching methods and adapt to different
learner needs.
Develop group management and supervision skills and learn
how to manage time and resources.
Develop skills in active listening, decision-making, effective
communication, and self-esteem building.
Reflect and debrief regularly with SNAP-ED and/or 4-H Staff.
TIME REQUIRED
Orientation and Training Time – 10 hours minimum
Teaching Time – 10 hours minimum
REQUIREMENTS
Fill out required volunteer information (includes application,
references, CANTS check from D.C.F.S and Conviction
Information Name Check for Volunteers.
Attend orientation, trainings, and scheduled programs.
