Sangamon-Menard Extension Unit 4-H Project Activities and Exhibit Requirements Project: Journalism Suggested for: Grades 7-12 Latest Starting Date: May 1 Recommended Project Activities: • Write news stories. • Read and compare newspaper stories. • Try to get a story about a 4-H club event published. • Give a talk or demonstration related to your project. Project Exhibit Requirements: Exhibit a binder portfolio showing the results of the appropriate year’s activities noted below: (Use of page protectors is recommended. Binder exhibits will NOT be labeled “Do Not Touch.”) Displays are limited to 2’ wide x 15” deep. Exhibitors age 10 and older must fill out a 1 page 4-H Exhibit Report to include with their exhibit. The 4-H Exhibit Report can be found on our county website at http://web.extension.uiuc.edu/sangamonmenard/4hyouth1157.html under the printable forms section. If you do not have internet access you can contact your 4-H leader, or call the Extension Office to receive a copy of the report form. Year 1: Accomplishments of a minimum of 5, 2-star activities from Part1, answering all of the questions in the activities. Year 2: Results of doing a minimum of 5, 2-star activities in Part 2, answering all the questions in the activities. Year 3: Results of doing a minimum of 5, 3 -star activities from Parts 1 and 2. One of the activities must include writing an advance story, a follow-up story, or a feature story. Year 4: Results of doing at least 2, 2-star activities and 3, 3-star activities from Part 3.
