Sangamon-Menard Extension Unit 4-H Project Activities and Exhibit Requirements Project: Citizenship III Suggested for Grades: 9 to 12 Latest Starting Date: May 1 Recommended Project Activities: • Learn how township, village or city government is financed and functions. • Learn about police and fire protection, health and sanitation, safety and tourism. • Investigate the community’s heritage and culture. • Give a talk or demonstration related to the project. • Complete your Project Planning Sheet. Project Exhibit Requirements: Prepare a display (maximum size 2' wide x 15” deep), or a poster to be hung (maximum size 22”x30”) illustrating one of the activities that you completed within your project as it relates to one of the following categories in the manual: 1) Government; 2) Business and Industry; 3) Transportation, Communication & Utilities; 4) Culture & Heritage; 5) Natural Resources & Environment; 6) Education; 7) Organizations within your community; 8) Tourism; OR 9) Support Systems within your community. Exhibitors age 10 and older must fill out a 1 page 4H Exhibit Report to include with their exhibit. The 4-H Exhibit Report can be found on our county website at http://web.extension.uiuc.edu/sangamonmenard/4hyouth1157.html under the printable forms section. If you do not have internet access you can contact your 4-H leader, or call the Extension Office to receive a copy of the report form. EXHIBIT ELIGIBLE FOR STATE FAIR -- 4-H member must be 10 years of age by September 1 of the current 4-H year to exhibit at the State Fair. REVISED 3/2010
