_____________4-H Club. I currently serve on the McLean

Ask: What is 4-H Federation?
The McLean County 4-H Federation is a county wide 4-H
group. The purpose of this group is to provide older 4-H
members with a wider area of activities on the county level
and beyond, meet new friends from across the county, develop
leadership, and improve citizenship.
Activity: The first thing we are going to do is a team work
activity. One thing Federation focuses on is developing
skills to work together and work well with other people.
We have been focusing on team work all year.

Federation is involved on the county level.
To be a member of the Federation Board. We go through
a unique interview process.
Applications and a leader reference are submitted to the
Extension office and each applicant is offered an interview
with a committee of local 4-H volunteers and past Board
members. The applicants are then slated to an office and
the slate is presented at the June Federation meeting and
voted on. Federation has 12-14 offices on the Board.

next year. Both the outgoing and incoming Board
members meet to plan the upcoming programs. We
brainstorm ideas for programs, locations, community
service, upcoming events, theme for the 4-H year…etc.
This year the Board held a day-long orientation and
focused on Teamwork. We participated in teamwork
activities and did program planning.
Goals for the 2003-2004 Year
Review goals
All Board members are active on the county level and work
together. Each board member holds an office and officers
coordinate a meeting each month. Board members meet
for 30 minutes before each meeting to plan.
All youth ages 12-18 are encouraged to attend. Each club
should have two delegates per club who attend Federation
meetings. These delegates are voting members of the
group. Other members are welcome to attend, but only
two may vote. Delegates are invited to help with a variety
of county wide events and activities.
Meetings are held once a month and are held at a variety of
locations. Each month a program/activity is planned.
Meetings are designed to have fun and get to know other
people.
Federation Program Managers coordinated meeting
recreation each month. They also help with the planning
of programs each month, which add interest to the
meetings and help to get more 4-H members to attend.
Each meeting also incorporates a program which could
vary from a speaker to having a Easter Egg Hunt in the
dark! All meetings are fun. This year our meeting
schedule is: (Review schedule)
Federation plans different fundraisers to keep programs
going in McLean County. Each club member donates $2.00
per club member to Federation. Federation has sold
Centennial Bears and is active with the 4-H Alumni with
the Ice Cream Sundae Booth. These finances and
donations help support the University of Illinois Extension
and other programs in support of 4-H. We also sponsor
