USING TURNITIN IN SAKAI Instructor Grade View Turnitin can be used in conjunction with the Assignments tool in Sakai. When a student uploads a document to Sakai, it also submits the document to Turnitin and returns an Originality Report to the instructor and optionally, to the student. Posting a Turnitin Assignment in Sakai 1. Make sure the Assignment Tool is enabled in the desired Sakai course site. (Site Info > Edit Tools) 2. 3. 4. Enter the Assignments tool Click Add Fill out the Assignment Settings a. Enter Title & Open Date/Due dates b. Student Submissions : Choose Single Uploaded File Only . You can also choose “Inline and Attachments” or “Attachments only” but only the first file will be accepted for analysis by Turnitn. c. Grade Scale (Any choice) d. Allow Resubmission. If you check this box, it allows students to resubmit, but the second paper will not be analyzed by Turnitin. e. Assignment instructions. You may want to include information that this is a Turnitin assignment in your instructions. f. Turnitin Service: Check the box next to “Use Turnitin”. g. h. Check the box next to “Allow students to view report” if you want the students to see the report. Viewing the Turnitin Report You may have to wait 30-60 minutes for the report to process. 1. 2. 3. Upload the paper Student submits paper (required for collab tools) a. Provide Students with Class ID and password b. Instruct student to go to Turnitin.com and click create account c.
