The funds have been specifically allocated for enrolled FULL-TIME students who meet special contingencies. The criteria of eligibility for full-time students are as follows: 1. Admission to the Graduate School and the MSN program, PhD program in Nursing, or to the post-master’s certificate option. 2. Be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national or foreign national who possesses a visa permitting permanent residence in the United States. 3. Be currently licensed as a registered nurse. 4. Enrolled as a full-time student (9 s.h. or more per semester). Part-time students must be enrolled in the last 12 months of study prior to graduation to be eligible or be a doctoral student. Please note that only 1st year nurse anesthesia students are eligible for this grant; funding after the 1st year may be available through a specific nurse anesthesia grant. All other concentrations are eligible throughout the entirety of their program, not to exceed 36 months. 5. Maintenance of the academic standard of a 3.0 GPA. 6. Eligible for national nursing certification in the nursing specialty or field of study (as applicable) following graduation. The purpose of these traineeships is to expedite graduate students completing their degree and moving into the world of employment as quickly as possible. These funds may cover tuition and fees. This traineeship has no payback requirement. Trainees must agree to submit data regarding professional activity following graduation to the Division of Nursing, as requested, for three years following AEN Traineeship support. The award of a traineeship under the PNT Program does not make an individual an employee of the Public Health Service. Determination of the tax status of an individual receiving a traineeship is the responsibility of the Internal Revenue Service. When completing the form, please disregard (leave blank) #1; provide only the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number in item 6; include the code (7500) for #12; omit #13 & #15; #16 should be either MSN or PhD; omit #18; Make sure to complete #19 and #20; no additional information is needed after #20 is completed (we will complete the remainder of the application). Application for traineeship funds must be received no later than July 27, 2007. Attach to the application a list of the courses and number of semester hours you will be enrolled in Fall Semester 2007. Spring Semester 2008, and if applicable, Summer Session 2008. Applications that are not complete, including the plan of study, will not be considered. Traineeship funds are limited and preference will be given to students who are residents of health professional shortage areas and are awarded on a yearly basis. Announcement of awards will be by letter by August 3. If you have not met with your advisor to plan your course study, please make an appointment as soon as possible.
