Daniel Campos: Ah, a minute is over and we are now ummm, do we need to do a motion?

minutes Mr. Vice President, John Soliman.
John Soliman: I do not have it ready cause, our advisor this month, however I do have the old copy.

John soliman: Yeah because this is gonna take, because this is from July 11th.
it?
Would you like to see
Unknown: sure
Daniel Campos: we went over this (John intercedes: last time…there’s another
minutes)……inaudible…the last week. Meetings right?
John Soliman: Thursday (Daniel intercedes: the planning) no there was the planning and there was
another one whisper (inaudible)
Daniel Campos: ok everybody is ready and I too approve the minutes for, which date?
John soliman: July 11th
Daniel Campos (others): July 11th….ok…..I need a motion
Marcelo Rodriguez: motion to move mintues

Marcelo Rodriguez: I
Unknown: I
Daniel Campos: only voting members only. . . .. someone opposed? Its unanimous….lets do this
John Soliman: Mr. Chair
Daniel Campos: yes. I voted, I…We moving to open forum. This time is reserved for the public to address
issues already on…issues not already on the agenda. There is a time limit of 3 minutes per speaker or 5
minutes per topic will be enforced. Does anyone has anything to say in the open forum for our guests.
Evy Trezvant (Guest 1): Ummm…..I do
John Soliman: time
Daniel Campos: Yes, we gonna address. Mrs. Evy, you have 3 minutes starting at 4:37.
Evy Trezvant (Guest 1): I just would like to talk about the application process. I know today’s the
deadline, but I kinda feel personally that the applications today the deadline…Question? Is that for all
positions that are available? Is today the deadline?
Daniel Campos: Umm I believe that u,mmmm. Actually Im 100 percent sure. This was a application that
we actually we as a committee approve because we needed to bring people on board. Mr. Crossley
approved with the rest of the senators, I believe the rest of the board a time because he was going on
vacation so we sent a email blast cause we know that we didn’t get enough applications that we gonna
have a extension. The purpose of this deadline was to try to get people who were like really wanted to
you know meeting the deadline on time and stuff like that, we can finally get organizing so we gonna
shoot another email blast just like that and we gonna give another deadline again for people to submit
applications so we can interview, the whole purpose of this was so we could have a full board by August
(the end of august) so we can start preparing events for September.
Evy Trezvant: ok. So the reason I asked is because I’m little confused, because I only got one email blast
and it only listed the Senators and I was waiting for the one that listed the Executive Administrator,
because you told me that a different one was going to be sent for that position. I received a text
message from you two days later, but I did not know about a deadline, but my concern is you have a lot
of new on coming students and if you put a deadline on before the school even starts; have you put out
a email to all the new students?
Daniel Campos: Every single one on campus

ASO MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 4:30pm
Evy Trezvant: Ok, because a lot of students are not aware of ASO and I know as just me being a student
with email blasts, unless I know what the email is about, I don’t even open it or read it. So my concern
with the deadlines, is that as long as there is going to be another deadline, where the students are
aware of it and they can submit. So that is my major concern, that we can get these positions filled with
a diverse community of students.
Daniel Campos: Mr. Vice President
John Soliman: I, Vice President, John Soliman would like to do a recommendation to the council.
Evy Trezvant: Well, Yeah, the recommendation is to extend the deadline, because you want to try to get
as many students as possible. And if you end the deadline right now, you’re not going to get a lot of
students to submit applications because they don’t even know about it. Does that make sense?
Daniel Campos: The five minutes are over and we can take this as a topic and you can please submit a
request an item for next meeting. Just for record for everyone my email address is on the directory, but
its camposd@lamission.edu. That’s a proper way to submit an item, so we can discuss this further. Uhh,
since we talking about it, I think we can have it for next um meeting as an item. An will be a um
Unknown: wait
Daniel Campos: Mr. Vice President
John Soliman: I, John Soliman, I just saw the agenda. It does say something about application email
blast LA Mission students, so we can discuss this (Daniel Campos intercedes)
Daniel Campos: We can discuss this and a we can move forward. We can discuss this on the time, umm
for old business application email blast and you’ll be able to be acknowledged again at that point.
Evy Trezvant: I know, but let me say this, according to the agenda, it says I’m given 5 minutes per
speaker or 3 minutes per topic and I didn’t talk a whole 3 minutes. You started talking about a minute
in on my 3 minutes and I know we didn’t spend a whole 5 minutes on it. So, if we are going to do it, Im
gonna make sure we do it right. I know I didn’t speak the whole 3 minutes and I know we didn’t spend 5
minutes on it.
Daniel Campos: I know, but If at Robert’s Rules, you only have 3 minutes and if you don’t use all those 3
minutes at the time, you can not accumulate your minutes. But we do have a old business at that time
and you can discuss the email blast at that time.
Evy Trezvant: ok
Daniel Campos: we just gonna move on right now. Officer’s report. We going to start with my report.

ASO MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 4:30pm
John Soliman: what time is the, what time are we closing Open Forum.
Daniel Campos: We closing Open Forum at: 4:43pm and we moving to the Officer’s Report. Umm,
there’s a couple meetings that I attended. I attend to the umm College Council Meeting for the first
time and also to the Ummm, which we suggested important issues. One of them and the most
important, it was the ummmm the amount ummm amount of $150,000 they were trying to use umm to
build or remodel a bathroom and um which I express my concern about it was not the interest of
10,000 students to have that amount of money only designed for Faculty. It also stated that it was not
Faculty even though this bathroom might be on the old conference room on the CSB Collaborative
Building a Studies that way you’d have to go to the faculty offices to get to that restroom so having
clear about those bathrooms it will be discussed next meeting and has been sent back to a Planning
Committee at which I will be attending with Mr. Crossley as a I understand. We also attending a the
ummm Los Angeles Mission College…the ummm Foundation Meeting in that meeting we learned that
there was a planning for next year for a big event, there’s actually something going on I think its called
the summer fest and it seems to be a huge event. In that meeting as well the president of LA Mission
college committed to get us a new printer and he actually working with hard. He told me to talk to ROLF
at that point. We gonna get a aaa bigger printer and to satisfy the necessities of 10,000 students we
represent. Ummm we also discussed with ummmmm Mr. Crossley last week, the assembly and set-up
of 6 computers in this new ASO ummmm new and improved conference room. In the meantime they
approve us the rest of the floor. They gonna be installing this hopefully this week, this is per Mr. Robert
Crossley. I also attended to the meeting on Los Angeles Wilshire Avenue of the Students Affairs from
the Board of Trustees that was a great meeting. That meeting we talked about keeping a committee for
the Itap, which is now called the Transportation Committee. We also talked about the proposal and I
believe they call it the AB, no its not the AB540. I have it on top of my desk if you don’t mind. The
bottom line is, its another proposal their talking about taxing the oil companies. And basically the oil
companies ,money will go to tuition the students and degrees, the budget of the students and its costs
so we gonna be participating. We already have the forms so we just have to move along and last but
not least, today was the President of LA Mission College’s Birthday, which I attended. We have the
Facebook going, so we gonna see the pictures right there, so I going to end my meeting. That’s the end
of my report….Mr. VP.
John Soliman: what?
Daniel Campos: do you have a report
John Soliman: yes I do, not as long as yours (jokingly)
Daniel Campos: I was busy…

ASO MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 4:30pm
John soliman: Good afternoon everybody, thank you for coming today, ummm. I’ll go ahead and start
my report. My report consist of the last report I was given of the council which was to find dates and
times that can accommodate both our time and the President’s to make an appointment. Currently I
have 3 holding times. August 15, August 16 and August 18. August 15th is 1pm, August 16 is 2:30pm,
August 18th is 9:00am or 9:30am so umm I do need to get back to the secretary of the President at the
end of today, she will be leaving at 5:30; I do need a confirmation from the council.
Daniel Campos: ok..ummm Mr. Treasurer. You are the one who has the time other or more tied up, so
we will try to work around your time…what date will be better for you out of these 3 dates and times
their being given?
Marcelo Rodriguez: Well this is like pretty much my schedule. Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to
4:30. I can take my lunch anytime ummmm like 11:00 to 3:00. No later thatn 3:00 I can take my lunch.
Daniel Campos: Can you pick a date and a time? I mean a date, that will give us the time anyway.
August 15: 1pm, August 16:2:30pm or August 18: 9:00 or 9:30….yeah. We can work around this…I have
availability
John Soliman: I have 3 here so there is one way it can work
Daniel Campos: yeah
Marcelo Rodriguez: Monday
Daniel Campos: Monday, 15th? Monday 15th at 1:00pm. We (inaudible) a appointment with the
President of LA Mission College
John Soliman: I wanted to make clear on the record also, this meeting is going to be very important.
We adjust this meeting to accommodate you, Marcelo. So maybe 30 minutes is not worth the time if
you do have to leave at 1:30 if you have to. We are planning to talk to the President and elaborate more
of what our plans are and what our goals are for the next coming semester. So I would suggest, just for
me you know if you can to set yourself to a more better time. My other report is ummm I’m currently
working on a banner. I told umm the President this, that ummm, we tried to promote and publicize as
best as we could and accommodate those certain needs that certain students of us of our campus does
not have, which is internet access, which is computers or laptops or anything else. So I was working on
a banner and also flyers are up and ummm also working, and um also working with umm Facebook and
also working with the website, so I will be currently working on that at the end of ummm the meeting.
And that is the end of my report.
Daniel Campos: Mr. Treasurer. Marcelo Rodriguez, do you have a report?

ASO MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 4:30pm
Marcelo Rodriguez: yes, all of our supplies, the order went through as to my knowledge everything was
received am I mistaken?
Daniel Campos: yes, but go ahead?
Marcelo Rodriguez: ok, well umm the order went through (inaudible) on top of that I will have these list
of questions typed up for Monday for applicants and I reviewed today ummm. But I still have some
more questions for the person that went over this test with me the personality test. Umm I did my own
today, ummm theres a few questions I have because this personality test was designed for schools, for
students. This program is typically for counselors. They use it for students who are undecided on their
majors to make career choices so it helps them decide what kind person they are and I felt that would
be best for us in accessing those who are applicants in the ASO, so I did my own and so I have some. I’ll
have a full possible workshop for those on the E-Board to see, they can utilize it as well for those
students that will have this administered to them.
Daniel Campos: Great sir. Ummmm Treasurer
John Soliman: Mr.Chair
Daniel Campos: yes, um Mr. Vice President
John Soliman: I, John Soliman, Vice President, I would like to umm Point of Information what supplies
do we not have currently?
Daniel Campos: We did not receive the black toner. Yeah…I believe that toner was mistaken the number
of the order
Marcelo Rodriguez: I believe there was a mistake on the number of the first order, but after it was
(inaudible several people speaking at once)
Daniel Campos: Yeah, I believe the number was mistaken
John Soliman: for the record can you please state
Daniel Campos: The black toner and also the paper and Mr. Crossley know when from you right
(Marcelo: yes) right before he went on vacation and he ordered it again, so we’ll be getting it anytime
soon as soon as Mr. Treasurer
John Soliman: I do have to stress to the council so for Point of information. We’re running out of time
as far as we’re working on it as hard as we could, but we’ll try to have more efforts into getting all these
things because the public as far as the student body is asking for supplies as far as printing supplies or

anything like that so I can help you if you need any help and I’ll ask also that you follow through with Mr.
Crossley because a lot of students are asking for these things.
Daniel Campos: ok. So you have something else then?
Marcelo Rodriguez: uummmm that would be it. Other than I was looking at some of the form in
relation to the cold education that you were speaking of..other than that. No that would be it.
Daniel Campos: we closing the officers report at 4:44pm. We have the Senators report. There’s no
Senators to report. So we’ll move on. It’s 4:54. Thank you for clarifying that Ms. Evy, so we have
ummm. Advisor report in this case we have ummm. Mr. Jose, do you have a report from Mr.
Crossley?.....no report
John Soliman: off the record
Jose Avadano: Oh wait a minute, he emailed me the agenda,, I don’t know he might of emailed me
something else. So ummm
John Soliman: So report at this time
Jose Avadano: so umm no report at this time, sorry about that.
Daniel Campos: The Committee Shared Governance Report, there is none. We don’t have a committee
yet, so we gonna move on
John Soliman: the committee, committee, College Council
Daniel Campos: College Council that is the report I addressed it from the beginning from the President’s
report.
John Soliman: so I’ll just readjust it
Daniel Campos: ok, so we’re gonna the new business
Jose Avadano: you want me to check if there is a report
Daniel Campos: not at this point. We have to move forward. Thank you anyway. We were talking
about the Welcome Week Committees. We’re trying to put together a group of students who will help
us hopefully we can appoint someone during this weeks in order to help for the welcome week. Does
anyone have at this point any suggestions.. its open.
Marcleo Rodriguez: What kind of suggestions are you looking for?

ASO MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 4:30pm
John Soliman: Point of Order, Point of order, if you’re speak, please raise your hand, so its not going
crazy so I’m not confused so you don’t interrupt whose talking, so Mr. Chair you have to
Daniel Campos: ok, thank you. I do apologize for that. So let me recognize first, Mr. Marcelo since you
started talking
Marcelo Rodriguez: Umm I kind of lost my point
Daniel Campos: Ms. Evy, let me recognize you
Evy Trezvant: ok, well I was gonna ask if we could participate in this part, but I was talking to Danny
earlier about possibly creating for a whole week. The first week of school having a I don’t want to call it
a meeting, but like a conference where students can come in and be introduced to the ASO panel, those
who are already on the board, those already here like a meet and greet. They come and meet us. We
encourage them to pay their ASO dues. We can do like we did for no stress before finals day, maybe
have some tea there or some snacks and maybe also have the binders, the folders and stuff, so once
they pay their ASO dues, they can get those items to them, or whatever it is that we give them, but
instead of doing it for 1 or 2 days, we can do it for the whole week. At times also as far as the President,
I noticed that he has his minutes online. He can go on that week and say, I encourage you to stop by the
ASO meet and greet conference which will be going on August during the first week at various times to
get to know your ASO, ummmm your student body government. You know because I think the goal is
to get more students involved in the ASO and the only way to do that it to “participate”. You know we
can’t expect them to know about the ASO. They won’t be like, oh you know the ASO is downstairs. We
kinda have to go out there and say Hey! Did you know about the ASO? This is what we’re doing, but
that was my suggestion, to do a meet and greet the whole week not just 1 or 2 days but we could do
different time you know like 3 hours one day…3 hours another day, you know at various times so
students don’t feel like they have to miss class, so say for instance a Monday probably from 9am-12 is
probably going to be very busy so say Monday from 12 to 4pm on that day a meet and greet. And on
Tuesday since students have already come in on Monday and are aware, then Tuesday we can do like
from 9am to 2pm, but you do different times, so that way you can give all the student an opportunity to
come and meet their student body government.
Daniel Campos: Mr. Marcelo, umm Treasurer
Marcelo Rodriguez: Evy, unfortunately we cannot do it on the first week, but the second week because
it’s the schools’ rule not mine.
Evy Trezvant: well, the second week. The first week is too busy, but my point is
Daniel Campos: Mr. Marcelo, Treasurer

ASO MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 4:30pm
Marcelo Rodriguez: personally, I wish we could change that just for this reason. I know this sounds and
in a way, but I know it also sounds good in a way, from a student’s perspective, the week of school is
crucial financially I feel, due to fundraise because that’s the point peak of the year, because that’s the
time when we have the most amount of students on campus. Everybody generally comes that first
week. Generally that first week is when we have everybody all over the campus. Maybe we could get
volunteers and businesses on campus.
Daniel Campos: Mr. Oscar
Oscar Aguayo: I agree and at the same time students would be everywhere and I think it would be good
for volunteers to be help guide them, especially the new high school students that come in to guide
them to their classes you know cause their everywhere and their looking and in search for their classes
and we could have volunteers you know at the same time walk with them. We could easily, perfect
opportunity to educate them about ASO and welcome them to the meeting whenever.
Daniel Campos: And Ms. Evy
Evy Trezvant: I also think because we did not give away those items in the no stress before finals event
you know the backpack and the t-shirts we could also do a raffle and give away those items for back to
school week. A great way to make money. Donate $3, here’s a ticket win a back pack, because who
needs a backpack when starting school. And their gonna be bringing books, so it’s a great opportunity to
give those items away. That we didn’t get a chance to give away. Not to give away, but you know what I
mean, a raffle.
Daniel Campos: Does anyone else have something to add. . . .Mr. Vice President
John Soliman: I, John Soliman, Vice President, the theme that I was looking towards because this is
welcome week, this is the time when we introduce ourselves to the student body. Is pretty much
inside. I want it outside the quad. To have maybe umm, versus ASO to incorporate all the clubs,
currently there are 23 chartered clubs and we can have a carnival theme and invite the new college
president to come out and speak and we can do a little bit passing of the gavel and we can introduce
ourselves individually as the student council. Another idea was culture day. So those themes that I’m
thinking of definitely this is the biggest event that we have to accomplish because it’s a start of what we
want to show to the student body. It does show as a point of order as a committee. I do volunteer
myself to be a part of the committee. I do not know if I’m going to be able to be the chair. I will leave
that to the rest of the council.
Daniel Campos: Ms. Evy
Evy Trezvant: I think that outside would be great. It would be even better because we are more visible.
I do disagree with ICC chartered club. The only reason I disagree is because the clubs are not meeting

while were not in school; and its gonna be really hard to get the clubs involved before school starts for
this event.
Daniel Campos: we gathered some ideas and basically it could be discussed further on, we would like to
have the ideas up front like for instance the reason why I’m saying this even though we suggested doing
the first week of school, I think we need to go by the District Rules. We need to run by the advisor,
those things that’s why we had discussed them. So that’s why we are gathering ideas ok
Evy Trezvant: I just want to make note that I do think having chartered clubs in the future at least 2
weeks before school. I think it would be a good idea. You don’t want to put on an event and it’s nto
successful. We’ve done enough of those. You want to put on an event where it really looks like an
event that’s whats important. So we’re gonna include the clubs if there’s anyway we can contact the
clubs and get them to meet before school starts. So that’s my idea
Daniel Campos: Yes Mr.
Oscar Aguayo: I agree with having it outside. It’s more visible and a lot of students, new students to
educate then right there. It’s good to have a suggestion box for welcome back students and have a lot
to say and have a suggestion box so they can drop in some notes. Like what do they want…what
changes do they want to happen, so yeah.
Daniel Campos: last comment Mr. Treasurer. We need to move forward, cause we are already over time
Marcelo Rodriguez: I think the suggestion box is a brilliant idea, we should have them all along the
campus as the President and the E-Board represent the campus and let all the students know that we
have suggestion boxes all over campus. If you have any suggestions, please let us know. We can check
them once a week, we can go and check them all out. We could have 1 here and 3 more around campus
Daniel Campus: Point of reference we don’t need to encourage an idea that’s already been talked
about. You know we don’t want to just to save time. The old idea. They all good ideas
Is there anything else that someone would like to add?
John Soliman: What about you, Mr. Chair?
Daniel Campos: all these ideas, actually are great. And ummm im just not gonna reinforce what I have
when all the ideas are great. So we just gonna move forward does anyone have item agenda which is
the California Gas Tax Initiative I talked to you guys about it on my report. Ok, so im gonna go back to
the first item because we need to set a committee, but we don’t have enough people.

John Soliman: we have 3. Point of order for the record. To be able to have a committee you need to
have 3 bodies. 3 present members. And We have 3 present members, so I’m suggesting to be part of
the committee. I don’t know if you guys want to do it also. You too Mr. Chair.
Daniel Campos: I don’t, I have the agenda for…really packed. I don’t be a part of this committee as
much as I would like to, but I cant take a duty that I would not be able to fill, especially with 16 units. So
that’s why we need more people to come along. I’m not suggested no one, but I’m not looking for you.
Evy Trezvant: Guys, I don’t mind doing it, but I’m not on the board yet
John Soliman: You can ask the public
Daniel Campos: Yeah absolutely because we need volunteer, so we gonna open this to the public if
someone wants to be part of the welcome week committee please state your name address, phone
number for the record. So we just gonna write it down. Mr. Marcelo, Treasurer
Marcelo Rodriguez: So this committee is going to be meeting throughout the summer right? This
committee is obviously gonna ending hopefully the first week of school because we’d be putting this
event on the second week of school, unless the committee lets us have it the first week of school. Other
than that I can donate my summer time, but once school starts I (inaudible too many speaking at once)
Daniel Campos: Ms. Evy
Evy Trezvant: I think you guys are being a little disrespectful towards each other. Even if you don’t
agree I think you guys should be a little more respectful towards each other. I think you guys should
allow Please be respectful of each other because I’m noticing it from a outside person. The second
thing is, I’m more than willing to offer my services. Evy Trezvant, first name E v like victor y. last name
T r e z like zebra v like victor a n t. John already has my contact information.
Daniel Campos: ok
Freddy Octaviano: me, I’m Freddy Octaviano. I’m willing to work but I do not I’m not sure about what
this committee is about, I’m not sure what is this committee….what is it that you guys talk about
Daniel Campos: Mr. Treasurer
Marcelo Rodriguez: I think once we organize this committee, then we can all get this on our schedule
and we can discuss the committee. My hours are from 4:30 to 6:00 so.
Daniel Campos: So you gonna be the 4th member on this committee right? John, Ms. Evy, Freddy,

Ms. Evy
Evy Trezvant: I will also offer to chair the committee. I’m offering to chair the committee. I also have
you guys information, so I will be giving you guys a call. I don’t have yours (??). so I do need your

first meeting sometime next week. Ok. Not sure what day next week, but it will be next week. Alright?
Ok.
Daniel Campos: Ms. Evy will actually gonna be chairing the welcome week…uhhhhh committee. Mr.
Oscar Aguayo
Oscar Aguayo: I Oscar will also gonna volunteer to welcome week. Is there anything we gonna do for
welcome back.
