Dreams and Disillusionment

Dreams and Disillusionments
Write a 2-3 page paper that contrasts the dreams and/or disillusionments in Chief
Seattle’s “Address” or Sherman Alexie’s “The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in
Heaven” to your dreams and/or disillusionments.
The Focus: Compare the dreams and/or disillusionments of one of the
authors and compare them to your dreams and/or disillusionments. Discuss how
dreams/disillusionments of the author you have chosen are similar or different to yours.
How do the dominate impressions differ? What effect do the dreams and/or
disillusionments have on the author? What effect do your dreams and/or disillusionments
have on you? At least 50% of the discussion needs to be about the author’s dreams and/or
disillusionments.
The Grade:
1. Write a thesis that can be developed throughout the paper. Underline your thesis.
2. The entire essay needs to be devoted to proving your thesis.
3. Paragraphs must start with topic sentences and be well structured with main points and
support. Pick an order/pattern to use, such as time/chronological or order of importance and
use transitions so your reader can follow your writing.
4. Attach your outline to the back. (The outline does not count as a page of the paper.)
5. Attach peer review sheets in back of the outline.
6. Use correct grammar and punctuation.
7. You do not need a title page and please do not use plastic holders. Staple the paper
BEFORE you come to class.
