Steps for College and University Club Sports Programs to Participate in the
Pledge to Travel Green Program
Checklist
_____ Contact either Justin Waters, Assistant Club Sports Director at East Carolina University at
watersj@ecu.edu or (252) 737-2713, or Kris Schoech, Club Sports Director at the University of
Colorado at Boulder at kristopher.schoech@colorado.edu or (303) 492-5133, to discuss the
program and how it is being implemented.
_____ Communicate with the staff at the Center for Sustainable Tourism
(sustainabletourism@ecu.edu) regarding your intend to adopt the program and send your
Club Sports Logo to the Center for placement on the project website
(http://www.ecu.edu/cs-tecs/sustainabletourism/TCCclubsports.cfm)
_____ Identify a full time staff member who will be serving as the program’s mentor and
institutional contact person
_____ Create a Pledge to Travel Green Club Sports Student and Staff Committee whose task is
to educate club sports captains and team travel organizers of the importance of, and
actions to take, incorporating green travel practices whenever possible
_____ Add the Pledge to Travel Green Travel Care Code logo (will be provided by the Center)
to your Club Sports website along with a sustainability tab where you will place your
green activities
_____ Identify what institutional goals will be addressed by your participation in the program
_____ Create an action and implementation plan on how your program will adopt green
practices
_____ Document your actions that are lessening your travel footprint and organize them for
inclusion in your annual report
