Fundraising & Communications Internship Legal Information Institute [LII] at Cornell Law School Summer 2016 The Legal Information Institute at Cornell Law School [LII] provides free legal information to more than 30 million unique visitors annually. Founded in 1992, the LII was the first legal information site on the Internet and currently accounts for over 60% of all Cornell University web traffic. Visit the site at http://www.law.cornell.edu. As a small nonprofit organization, the LII depends on philanthropic support to carry out its mission of helping people find and understand the laws that govern them. The 2016 Summer Intern will gain exposure to nonprofit development and management, best practices in donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and retention, and outreach strategies developed for an international audience. He/she will walk away with a skill set desired by recruiters in both the nonprofit and commercial sectors. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Responsibilities Corporation and individual donor/prospect research and outreach in support of major gift and sponsorship programs Assist in optimization of donor/prospect data and relationship-management in SalesForce CRM Assist in the development and execution of a fundraising campaign Conduct actionable behavior analysis of web site visitors, email subscribers and donors in support of audience persona development and outreach message targeting Conduct stakeholder interviews and relate stories of impact via the LII Newsletter and blogs Monitor LII involvement in social media and news media, assist in proactive and reactive social strategy development Assist in the development of the organization’s media and written content repository Other duties as dictated by intern skills and interest Qualifications This is a 12-week paid internship from June 1 through August 19, 2016 at $12.90 per hour. You must be able to work thirty hours each week—three, six-hour days in our office at Cornell Law School, and the remaining 12 hours telecommuting. Exact days and times are flexible. We are seeking a motivated and responsible college student looking to gain experience nonprofit fundraising and communications. Prior interning experience is not a requirement, but we do require you to have a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. An interest in the law and current events is helpful, but not required.
