Tuition: Students attending the Ithaca New York City Program are registered as full-time Ithaca College students. Tuition costs are the same in Ithaca and in NYC. 2. Housing: Costs will be variable based on individual living location. Please see “B” Housing Information. 3. Financial Aid: All Ithaca College financial aid applies to this program, though workstudy/college employment will not be available. If workstudy/college employment is part of your financial aid package, we advise you to notify the Office of Student Financial Services. 4. Additional Costs: Students will be responsible for additional costs such as housing, transportation to and around New York City, meals, laundry, books, telephone, and personal items. B. Housing Information The New York City program requires that you find your own housing and share with your classmates the expense of the higher costs of living in a major metropolitan area. Our expectation is that you will want to prepare for independent living as part of your internship experience. With an approach used by the Ithaca College London Center, we hope to develop a list of possible landlords and housing options based on the experiences of our students and the recommendations they make as the New York City Program grows. In the meantime, you may want to review the Costs & Housing Information web page. Consult with your parents and guardians concerning the best housing option for you. As you conduct your search for housing, consider your budget, that is, how much you have available to cover the cost of rent, whether you have classmates with whom to share the costs, and your access to 1 transportation to the ILR Center where classes will be held and to your internship placement. Safety, cleanliness, and the neighborhood environment are very important considerations in making your housing decision. For more information on housing, tuition, and other details, please email newyorkcity@ithaca.edu, or call the New York City Program office at (607) 274-3063. C. Registration for Courses 1. All students must be registered into a full-time schedule; the minimum number of credits is 12; the maximum is 18. The Internship Program a. Students are required to register for a 6 credits internship; 1-6 credit or 2-3 credits. In some instances it may be appropriate for a student to complete 1-3 credit internship instead of 6 credits. Students should consult Amanda L. Lippincott if they are interested in this option. b. Students are required to register for the minimum required credits to reach at least 12 credits. Independent Study, Fieldwork, or Research c. H&S students have the option to complete an independent study, fieldwork, or research opportunity while part of the New York City program. Students will need to complete the necessary steps for an individualized study opportunity in H&S, additional information is available online. In some instances it may be appropriate for a student to complete an individualized study opportunity instead of an internship while part of the New York City program. Students should consult Amanda L. Lippincott if they are interested in this option. 2. A list of courses available in the fall, and registration instructions, will be provided after you have been accepted into the Program. Note: We cannot guarantee the courses available will allow students to meet major, general education, or ICC requirements. 3. The H&S Dean’s office will work with all students accepted into the New York City program to insure that you are registered into the appropriate courses. D. Internship Information and Registration 1.
