“August Wilson: American Playwright” Kathryn Bentley, Assistant Professor, Department of Theater and Dance The 45-60 minute presentation will feature scenes from plays by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, August Wilson. Before his death in 2005, Wilson completed a cycle of ten plays that chronicle the lives of African-Americans through each decade of the 20th century. This was an unprecedented contribution to the American theater. The selected scenes will be performed by 7-10 SIUE Theater students and directed by Professor Bentley. The presentation will include a discussion about Wilson’s work to be cofacilitated by Bentley and a Professor from the Department of English, (awaiting confirmation of participation.)
