Ecofeminism Erin Kloster Liberal Studies Abstract Ecofeminism is an attractive field because it interconnects two movements. Françoise d'Eaubonne coined the term ecofeminism in 1974. This philosophy maintains that the socially constructed ideology that promotes male domination over women has a unique connection to the domination and exploitation of nature. On another note pollution and lax stipulations concerning waste management have affected women on different level than men. Cancers and other life threatening diseases specific to women have been linked to environmental negligence. Ecofeminism is also linked with connecting not only gender with nature but also explores the connectivity between class, race and the domination of animals with the misuse of the environment. This is a philosophy that covers social, political and often emotional issues.
