International Student Council, 2012 Elections
ARTICLE IV – ELECTIONS
Section 1:
Elections shall be held every year at the beginning of spring semester.
Section 2:
Procedures for Elections
a. Any active members meeting the qualifications may submit their
names to stand for elections. Each active member may only contest for
one specified position.
b. Election nomination letters along with their resumes must be
submitted at least two weeks prior to the election date.
c. Candidates must familiarize themselves with the ISC Constitution.
d. Candidates may be asked for the references of their leadership
experiences if necessary.
e. All Executive Officers shall be elected by the calculation of the
Leadership Grading Scale (LGS) of the qualifications of the positions.
f. A Commissioner of Elections shall be appointed by the ISC to carry
out the elections.
g. The Commissioner of Elections selects the Selection Committee to
review and evaluate the nominations according to the qualifications
needed for the positions.
h. The Selection Committee will be the SIUe Faculty/Staff who are not
affiliated with international community.
i. The Selection Committee calculates the average of the LGS for each
Officer according to the qualifications for each position.
j. The Commissioner of Elections shall provide a written and signed
statement attesting to the validity of the elections and provide the ISC
with detailed results of the elections after the final average of the LGS
is calculated.
k. Candidates for the respective positions with the most average of the
LGS calculated shall be the declared winners.
l. In case of a tie for the President position, newly elected ISC Officers
are entitled to choose the winning candidate.
m. Upon ratification of the Election results by the ISC, the newly elected
Officers immediately assume their respective duties, powers, and
responsibilities.
n. The outgoing Officers shall give all necessary guidance and assistance
to the new Officers to ensure a smooth transition.
o. Should a vacancy occur in any Officer position, the ISC Adviser or the
current ISC President will be granted the power to appoint an interim
until the next election occurs.
Section 3: Vacancies within Tenure
a. The Vice President shall succeed the President.
b. The Secretary shall succeed the Vice President.
c. Vacancies in other elected offices shall be filled by appointment by the
President
