Requirements for the B.S. in Psychology
1. Prerequisite course Completion with an average of “C” or better*
______PSY101 (3) General Psychology
*or equivalent course credit (i.e., AP) must be completed before taking any upper-division psychology
courses
Note: A grade of C or better in PSY-101, General Psychology, is required for acceptance as a psychology
major and a one semester GPA at Saint Louis University of at least 2.00.
2. Required B.S. related courses (15 hours)

3. Required Upper Division Psychology Courses ( 12 credit hours)
At least one course from each of the following topic areas must be completed:

4. Psychology electives
Two additional 3 credit 300 or 400-level psychology courses to meet the 36 credit hour
minimum for the BS degree are required. At least one of these courses must be a non-capstone,
400-level course.

5. Enrollment in PSY 495 during your final semester is required for graduation. This is a zero credit
“course” that notifies the Registrar of the student’s intention to graduate that semester. No actual
class attendance is involved.
6. Minimum residency requirement of 18 credits from the department, including PSY 205 and the
psychology capstone course.
