College of Education Curriculum Development Checklist UNDERGRADUATE Before the University Curriculum Committee will consider a curriculum package, the proposers must submit required documentation, as specified by the UCC (information and forms available at the UCC SharePoint website: https://collab.ecu.edu/sites/UCC/default.aspx), that verifies completion, as appropriate, of steps outlined below. Curriculum packages submitted to the COE Curriculum Committee must be composed of required documents in the following order: 1) _____ COE’s Curriculum Development Checklist - UNDERGRADUATE. This document DOES NOT go with the curriculum package to UCC since this is a COE-specific document. 2) _____ Email from the COE UCC Liaison, currently Vivian Covington, confirming that consultation has taken place concerning the curriculum proposal. This consultation needs to be done at the beginning of the curriculum development process and throughout as needed. 3) _____ Memorandum of Request: A separate Microsoft Word document containing a cover memorandum outlining the content and requested action regarding the package that is being submitted. Since the UCC no longer requires a Budgetary Memorandum, identification of the impact the proposed actions will have on unit resources should be included in this memorandum. 4) _____ COE Curriculum Committee Resource Justification Form (http://www.ecu.edu/cseduc/upload/COE_Curr_ResourceImpact_FORM_10Nov_14-2.pdf): This document is to be signed by the COE department chair and COE Dean or his designee if sections 2 or 4 are checked (these sections address the budgetary, resource, and staff impact of the proposal). This document DOES NOT go with the curriculum package to UCC since this is a COE-specific document. 5) _____ Course Proposal Forms: Separate pdf document(s) for each course proposal form. The course description and objectives cannot be changed without approval of the UCC. 6) _____ Marked Catalog Copy: Obtain Catalog Copy from Diane Coltraine, Office of the Registrar, to use as the starting point to develop Marked Catalog Copy (this will ensure the most current catalog text is used and the catalog copy will be in the correct format). Obtain Marked Catalog Copy confirmation from Diane Coltraine to confirm marked catalog copy is complete and in the correct format. Catalog revisions must be marked as follows: • Deletions should be marked in red, strikethrough font • Additions should be marked in blue font 7) _____ Affected Units Report: Obtain Affected Units Report from Diane Coltraine, Office of the Registrar. Complete notification of affected units. 8) _____ Supporting Documentation: E-mail(s) from the Office of the Registrar (for new course numbers), Office of Academic Programs (for new prefixes), correspondence with affected departments, etc. 9) _____ Completed Signature Form: A separate (.pdf) document containing all necessary signatures.
