THE UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST INDIES

MATTERS FROM THE BOARD FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES TO THE BOARD

FOR NON-CAMPUS COUNTRIES AND DISTANCE EDUCATION

At its meeting of May 22, 2007 the Board for Undergraduate Studies received matters from

BNCC/DE and took the following action:

Assessment of Barbados Community College Associate Degree in arts (Sociology Courses)

72.1 APPROVED the recommendation that graduates who earn a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the

BCC Associate Degree in Arts – Sociology programme and a Grade of B in the specified courses [set out in BUS.P.28] be granted exemptions with credit from the corresponding

UWI Bachelor’s Degree courses.

Assessment of Cave Hill School of Business Programmes

72.2 APPROVED the recommendation that graduates who earn a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the

Cave Hill School of Business programmes and a grade of B in the specified courses [set out in BUS.P.28] be granted exemptions from the corresponding University of the West

Indies Bachelor’s Degree courses.

Assessment of Dominica State College Associate Degrees (Accounting, Business

Administration, Economics & Sociology)

72.3 APPROVED the recommendation for graduates of Associate Degrees, with majors in the

Social Sciences, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 to be accorded normal matriculation to UWI’s three-year Bachelor’s degree programmes. In addition graduates with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and GPA of 2.7 in the specific courses [set out in

BUS.P.28] be granted exemptions with credit from the equivalent UWI courses identified.

Proposal for an Online Certificate in Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment

72.4 APPROVED , with effect from 2007/2008, the introduction of an online certificate in

Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment.
