East Carolina University CHANCELLOR’S COMMITTEE ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN Committee Purpose and Responsibilities: The purpose of the Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Women (CCSW), established in 1971, is to advise the Chancellor, Provost and other university leaders on the planning, implementation and evaluation of policies and practices to promote equity and further the welfare of all women associated with East Carolina University. The committee will actively encourage women’s professional and educational development, establish a climate where women can advance without barriers, and at the same time protect the rights of fellow human beings. Membership: The Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Women CCSW consists of no more than 30 voting members. Membership is open to all faculty, exempt and non-exempt staff, and students. Members will be recruited from the University community in such a way as to achieve representation from various groups all across campus. Appointments are made annually for three consecutive years, and members may be reappointed for one additional term. Ex-officio Non-Voting Membership - The following members, or their designee, by position are non-voting members: Chair of the Faculty Staff Senate Chair Student Government Association President Associate Provost for Equity, Diversity and Community Relations Vice Chancellor for Human Resources Representatives from other relevant campus organizations To Whom The Committee Reports: Chancellor and Provost Standard Meeting Time: Once per month, third Friday (Exception: The December meeting is often held earlier in the month.)
