A GLOBAL ODYSSEY: CALL FOR MINI-GRANT PROPOSALS
The 2012-2013 Common Experience theme, A Global Odyssey: Exploring our Connections to the Changing World,
aims to provide a campus-wide conversation that will help students become more aware of the complex
geographic, political, and economic interconnectedness of today’s world; more equipped with essential 21st
century skills; more empowered toward improving the quality of life at the local and global levels; and more
appreciative of the vibrant and varied cultures across the globe.
Up to $500 in funds are available per event related to the 2012-2013 Common Experience theme. Funds are
awarded on a competitive basis to all members of the Texas State community (including chartered student
organizations or registered student organizations applying through a department).
Please submit the completed proposal to Ani Yazedjian (ani@txstate.edu) before 5pm, December 1.
Proposals will be evaluated on:
·
How clearly they relate to the Common Experience theme
·
How well they advance an awareness of global interconnectedness
·
The number of cosponsors providing financial support
·
The potential for continued dialogue related to the Common Experience theme
·
The diversity of the anticipated audience
·
How well developed the publicity plan is
·
The size audience anticipated

Awarded funds cannot be used toward the purchase of food. The committee will look favorably on proposals that
reflect joint sponsorship (collaboration across university areas) and on proposals that reflect shared funding
(commitment for funds from other sources). Please note that all funded applicants are required to provide a
brief follow-up report to the Committee within one month of the event.
All applicants will be notified by December 15th regarding the status of their proposal. If you have any questions
about the application process, please contact Ani Yazedjian at ani@txstate.edu (245-2412), Diann McCabe at
dm14@txstate.edu (245-2209) or Pam Wuestenberg at pw05@txstate.edu (245-7952).
