Press Release
Positive Management at the HEC MBA Program
Paris, November 8th 2007
Confirming its status as a pioneer among French and European MBA programs, the HEC MBA has
initiated a long-term process of sustainable development. This engagement translates into tangible
action through our carbon neutrality initiative, which aims to raise the environmental awareness of our
staff and participants and compensate their carbon emissions.
“Complementing the humanitarian projects and sustainable development conferences we offer our
participants, this carbon neutrality initiative represents a concrete and long-term engagement for the
HEC MBA. It allows us to sensitize our entire community and respond to the threat of global warming,
which is at the heart of current societal and business concerns,” explains Valérie Gauthier,
Associate Dean of the HEC MBA Program.
This action for the environment reflects the HEC MBA Program’s commitment to developing
informed, responsible managers, capable of leading the businesses of tomorrow.
Ecological carbon sinks and oxygen sources for the Brazilian population
The HEC MBA Program has partnered with EcoAct to carry out a Bilan Carbone® (an audit of
greenhouse gas production). In addition to developing a plan of action to reduce carbon emissions, the
HEC MBA chose to participate in EcoAct’s community collaboration project, which emphasizes
environmental preservation and social development. The goal of this project is twofold: reducing the
ecological footprint of the HEC MBA Program and improving the living conditions of local Brazilian
populations.
In this way, HEC provides tangible support for “Plant for the Planet: Campaign for a billion trees,” a
program launched by the United Nations Program for the Environment.
