Press Release HEC to deliver new EMBA program in Beijing The first foreign business school to offer an independent program. 18th July 2006, From Autumn 2006, HEC is to offer a new EMBA in Beijing. The program, customized to meet the needs of Chinese state-owned enterprises, will also be open to private-sector companies, and will help increase the competitiveness of both in the global economy. On 23 June 2006 the launch of the new HEC EMBA program in China was announced during a ceremony held in Beijing at the Training Center of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) of the People’s Republic of China. The opening ceremony was attended by officials from the Training Center of the SASAC, the Chinese Ministry of Education, the CPC Beijing Municipal Education Committee, and the French Embassy in Beijing. Within an environment of continued economic reform and dynamic growth, the SASAC, created in April 2003, is empowered by the State Council to carry out, on its behalf, its responsibilities as investor and to organize and administer State-owned assets. Currently, more than 160 enterprises are directly supervised, accounting for roughly 36 percent of China’s GDP. The Education and Training Center for Officials and Entrepreneurs of the SASAC has selected HEC Paris to deliver a world-class EMBA Program in Beijing, whose mission is to expand the technical expertise and leadership skills of Chinese executives in order to prepare them for competition within the global economy. This unique EMBA program is offered under the auspices of the Training Center of the SASAC and has been recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education. HEC Paris has the honor of being the first foreign business school to establish such a program in China. Bernard Ramanantsoa, Dean of HEC Paris, believes that “…the competitive advantage of this program is that it fosters a global-mind set based on local specificities, helping Chinese executives navigate through increasingly challenging global competition. Chinese enterprises will ever more become global actors, and HEC is pleased to play a role in the training of their leaders.” He adds “…this program is a strategic addition to HEC’s international portfolio, which also includes such prestigious programs as the TRIUM Global EMBA (in alliance with NYU Stern and the London School of Economics) and Consulting and Coaching for Change (in alliance with Oxford University), and demonstrates HEC’s international prestige and reach.” Taught by HEC faculty, the EMBA program is an intensive, custom-designed course of study for select senior managers with focus on 13 market-oriented themes. The degree has a strong general management focus, and covers topics including Accounting and Finance, Business and Corporate Strategy, Marketing, Performance Management, Leadership and Change Management, Finance, Corporate Governance among others. As with all HEC MBA programs, participants contribute actively to the learning process by applying their personal and professional experience to the course. There will be 52 days of class time required as well as distance learning. The language of instruction will be English.
