HEC NEW PHASE OF COOPERATION IN CHINA
8th December 2005
HEC extends significantly its cooperation with China with the
signature of a dual degree between the School of Economics and
Management of Tsinghua University and the HEC MBA.
The new SEM of Tsinghua MBA – HEC MBA Dual Degree
Recognizing the mutual benefits of fostering academic exchanges and partnership,
Tsinghua School of Economics and Management and the HEC MBA Program will be
offering a dual degree MBA program for each prospective MBA student from both
schools. Participants in this unique program will benefit from the truly global nature of
management education and international exposure, and will enter two powerful
networks, providing true added value to the MBA experience.
Tsinghua MBA students having completed their 1st year core curriculum will go to HEC
to complete their 2nd year of MBA studies by taking elective courses from the HEC
MBA Program. Requirements and obligations of each institution must be fulfilled before
admission and the degrees are granted.
China is one of HEC key markets, along with the USA and Europe. It is also along
with India the fastest growing market in management education and one of the most
competitive. HEC is present in three major cities Beijing, Shanghai and Hong- Kong
with activities targeting three major audiences: business community, universities, and
potential candidates. As Bernard Ramanantsoa, HEC Dean, points out: “HEC long-term
collaborative agreements with Chinese Universities contribute to HEC reputation and
attractiveness for potential candidates to Grande Ecole, MBA and Ph.D. programs. In
parallel close links with leading European MNCs like Alcatel, AXA, L’Oréal or Siemens
as well as leading Chinese corporations and institutions contribute to open new carrier
opportunities to both expatriates and HEC graduates of Chinese origin. “
The signature of the HEC MBA dual degree agreement with Tsinghua adds a new
dimension to a special cooperation between HEC and China already established
for many years.
HEC is clearly positioning itself as a very distinctive source of high flyers for
international companies thanks to the rigor of selection process and the
entrepreneurial and international spirit of its graduates.
Leading international companies with European roots like AXA, Alcatel, Lafarge,
L’Oréal, Michelin, Schneider Electric, Siemens, or St Gobain are increasingly seeking
to recruit young managers with a dual culture: Chinese and international.
“The AXA- HEC-Tsinghua initiative”
Last September, Invited at Tsinghua University, Henri de Castries, Chairman of the
Board and CEO of AXA announced the launching of the new “AXA- HEC-Tsinghua
initiative”
in the field of management education : The scheme will focus on
research and faculty development offering joint education programs in management,
strategy and finance. Special attention will be paid to the insurance, banking and asset
management sector.
HEC is SEM’s privileged European partner
This new initiative broadens a distinctive partnership that dates back to 2001, when
HEC became SEM’s privileged European partner. Since then, the academic
collaboration has developed to include, along with the MBA dual degree, common
projects in executive education, a joint research program on the strategy of Chinese
multinationals, exchanges for faculty and MBA students and international programs
using video conferencing.
April - December 2005: a new research program on the Strategy of Chinese
Multinationals. Joint program of HEC and the School of Economics and Management of
Tsinghua University .
