Press Release President Valéry Giscard d’Estaing to appeal for Yes vote at HEC In this climate of mounting anxiety over the UE referendum, former French President and President of the European Convention, Valéry Giscard D’Estaing will be giving a lecture at HEC meeting more than 500 students. Thursday 12th May 2005 at 6pm On the HEC campus 1, rue de la Libération – 78351 Jouy-en-Josas This event takes place within the series of conferences “Meetings of Europe” organised by the HEC European Institute chaired by Mrs. Noëlle Lenoir Former French European Affairs Minister This cycle of conferences is organized in partnership with The International Herald Tribune and recruits high-ranking personalities recognized for their contribution to the development of Europe. Debates are intended to provide a neutral ground where high-level exchanges can take place between the guest and the participants, far from conventional views and partisan cleavages. The HEC European Institute was inaugurated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in December 2004 in the presence and under the patronage of Michel Barnier, French Minister for Foreign Affairs. It is directed jointly by Noelle Lenoir and Bertrand Moingeon, Professor of Strategic Management and Associate Dean for Executive Education at HEC . The activities of the Institute are structured around three major orientations: developing new multi-disciplinary and innovative training programs, devoted to European problematics, federating an international network of contacts, a platform for discussion between political decision makers, company directors and researchers, promoting and carrying out studies and applied research projects in partnership with other international institutions. Within the framework of the multi-disciplinary approach espoused by the Institute, special consideration is given to two themes: transatlantic relations and the consequences of the enlargement of the Union.
