Intercultural competencies are a vital skill set for graduates in an increasingly
diverse and inter-connected world. There has been a national rubric developed
and on-going conversation with AJCU faculty and administrators to articulate a
rubric that aligns competencies with the mission and values of a Jesuit education.
This conversation will identify curricular, co-curricular and professional
development programming that is currently utilized to develop intercultural
competencies. Further, we will discuss how intentional interventions and
reflections can be integrated into current courses and programming to achieve
these desired learning outcomes. By identifying available resources, best practices
and modalities of intercultural competencies we will explore the intersection of
this skill set with the characteristics of Jesuit education.
