CITIZENSHIP
Citizenship Rules and Regulations:
In order to exhibit in Citizenship, the 4-H member must be enrolled in
Citizenship I – All About Me Pub. MC0240 or
Citizenship II - My Neighborhood, Pub. MC0241 or
Citizenship III – My Community & Me, Pub. MC0242 or
Public Adventures – Youth Adventure Kit (Club/Group) Pub. MI-7329 or
Service Learning I – Agents of Change Pub. BU-08182 or
Service Learning II – Raise Your Voice Pub. BU-08183
1. See General Project Guidelines.
2. County may submit two (2) entries in classes 01 – 03. Service Learning 1,2
and Career Connection are not eligible for state fair.
Class 01 – Citizenship I
Exhibit a display illustrating one of the following options: 1) personal information
about yourself – who you are, things you like to do, things you are good at, your
favorites; 2) your feelings and how you handle these feelings; 3) your family, their
responsibilities, how you work together; OR 4) the Family Pedigree that may
include family group pages.
Class 02 – Citizenship II
Exhibit a display illustrating one of the following options: 1) your neighborhood;
OR 2) how you were a good neighbor or lead a service project for your
community; OR 3) a Citizenship Challenge that you helped organize and lead
(see the project manual for details).
Class 03 – Citizenship III
Exhibit a display illustrating one of the activities that you completed within your
project as it relates to one of the following categories in the manual; 1)
Government; 2) Business and Industry; 3) Transportation, Communication &
Utilities; 4) Culture & Heritage; 5) Natural Resources & Environment; 6)
Education; 7) Organizations within your community; 8 ) Tourism; OR 9) Support
Systems within your community.
Class 05 – Service Learning I
Service Learning I is not State Fair eligible
Exhibit a binder portfolio to reflect what the exhibitor accomplished in the four
steps of service learning. If exhibitor has been enrolled in project for multiple
years, the binder portfolio should include previous years’ work. Use of page
protectors is recommended. Exhibit will NOT be labeled “Do Not Touch”.

Class 06 – Service Learning II
Service Learning II is not State Fair eligible
Exhibit a binder portfolio to reflect what the exhibitor accomplished in the four
steps of service learning. If exhibitor has been enrolled in project for multiple
years (including Service Learning I), the binder portfolio should include previous
years’ work. Use of page protectors is recommended. Exhibit will NOT be
labeled “Do Not Touch”.
Class 07 – Career Connection
Career Connection is not State Fair eligible
4-H members’ ages 10-18 may choose to participate in the Career Connections
class for an additional exhibit opportunity. 4-H’ers will exhibit a completed
Career Connection form for your age group (available at the Extension office or
online). Form should be completed based upon information gathered about a
related career and an interview with someone in that specific career field. Form
should be placed in a page protector or report cover. Additional materials or
information may be added. 4-H’er must make an additional exhibit in the project
category to participate in the Career Connection exhibit class.
