Application Eligibility:
1. Must be freshman or higher. Current 8th graders may apply now to be trained for fall 2015.
3. Must be an active 4-H member, independent or with a club for one full year.
4. Must be in good standing as a 4-H member.
5. Application for 2015-16 is to be turned into the Extension office anytime or by May 1.
In one paragraph identify the characteristics you have that would make you a good ambassador for
Effingham County 4-H Program.
Please list the 4-H projects you are currently enrolled in and other interests you have such as school
activities-sports, band, choir, plays, etc.
Please list the county level activities you have been involved in and the years you participated: ex: Fair
Clean-up - 05, 06; Dairy Bar – 07,08,09; Jr. Leader Tractor School – 08,09.

and responsibilities of being an Ambassador. I would like to serve as a 4-H Ambassador for the coming year and

Program Overview
The role of an Effingham County 4-H Youth Ambassador is demanding and requires older 4-H youth who are dedicated, mature,
dependable and interested in the purposes of the Ambassador program. This is a one year commitment with re-enrollment
required yearly. New applications and re-enrollment forms are due to the Extension office as soon as possible or by May 1.
Ambassador orientation will be at the first Ambassador meeting in September.
ELIGIBILITY:
-Any youth freshman or higher.
-Must be an active member of 4-H, either independent or with a club for at least one full year.
-Must be in good standing as a 4-H member.
ROLE OF THE Effingham County 4-H Youth Ambassador
1.
Role Models: Ambassadors are role models for other youth and need to be drug, alcohol and tobacco free. They will be
respectful, polite and helpful with other 4-H members, adult leaders, and Extension staff.
2.
Teachers: Ambassadors will help teach workshops and training opportunities throughout the county. They will give
project talks and demonstrations at the club, county or regional level. They will help to educate youth and adults
about topics such as leadership, service, diversity and teamwork.
3.
Spokespeople: Ambassadors will represent and promote Effingham County and Illinois 4-H, its programs, and its youth at
various events, including the county fair, local/regional 4-H events, etc.

Facilitators: Ambassadors will work with the Ambassador leader, county and regional Extension staff, club leaders,
and other youth to help plan and facilitate various club, county, and regional events.
The Effingham County 4-H Youth Ambassador program strives to promote 4-H programs and encourages youth to become actively
involved in their communities. The county 4-H Ambassadors volunteer their time to assist with a number of county, regional
and state programs and functions. By assisting with these functions, the Ambassadors will have opportunities to enhance their
leadership roles and to develop an increased interest in volunteer work and community service.
Ambassadors will represent and fulfill their roles for the Effingham County 4-H program at various club, county, regional and
state events. This is a commitment and will require active involvement with these events.
Ambassador Expectations and Responsibilities
 - To sign up yearly during the re-enrollment period.
 - To be a positive role model to all 4-H youth.
 - To continue to build leadership skills and educate others.
 - To actively assist in the Ambassador role with at least six of the Ambassador, county, or regional events.
 - To participate with Ambassador and county fundraising events.
 - To regularly contact the leader if unable to fulfill any commitments.
 - To be on time to all scheduled commitments and monthly meetings.
 - To work with the 4-H Extension staff and 4-H coordinator as requested.
 - To actively promote inclusion and respect for diversity within 4-H programs.
 - To be responsible with purchased Ambassador Shirts & jackets and take care of them with regular maintenance.
 - To participate in Ambassador sponsored community service projects.
