VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION
Volunteer Public Relations/Media Coordinator
Purpose:
To serve as a liaison between county Extension staff and local media
sources and to inform the media of all 4-H activities and events.
Success Criteria:
4-H youth development events and activities will be covered by multiple
media methods. Potential and existing clientele will be informed about
youth development outreach opportunities.
Responsibilities:
• Provide updated pictures and articles to local paper.
• Secure proper releases to publish photographs in paper.
• Provide monthly public service announcements or media alerts for
local radio stations, newspapers and television stations to promote or
highlight an upcoming event.
• Write and distribute periodic 4-H newsletter inserts to promote
specific events for specific audience groups.
• Formulate a plan to coordinate 4-H calendar of events and activities
• To keep community informed
• Recruit additional volunteers
• Work with 4-H club reporters to help them gain access to newspaper
coverage of club events and activities
Time Required:
2 - 3 hours per month

September through August
