VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION
4-H The Fun Starts Here Coordinator
Purpose:
To coordinate the 4-H promotion efforts of Ambassadors in the Extension
Unit in target as defined by the Expansion and Review Committee. Specific
age group of 8 - 11 year olds.
Success Criteria:
Coordination of "4-H - The Fun Starts Here" presentations at elementary
schools in targeted areas of the Extension Unit. Planning and
implementation of "4-H - The Fun Start Here" Find Out parties in targeted
areas of the Extension Unit. Ambassadors involved in the presentations.
New youth and adults recruited for 4-H groups.
Responsibilities:
• Develop a plan in conjunction with unit staff for recruitment in the
Extension Unit based on recommendations of the 4-H Expansion and
Review Committee.
• Prepare a budget in cooperation with the Unit Leader for the "4-H - The
Fun Starts Here" promotion presentations.
• Recruit Ambassadors to conduct classroom presentations and assist with
"Find Out Parties".
• Assist Ambassadors in contacting schools in targeted areas about school
presentations for 8 - 11 year olds.
• Coordinate dates and locations of follow up "Find Out Parties".
• Invite Club Organizer Coordinator to "Find Out Parties" and coordinate
roles at that event.
• Order materials for classroom presentations and find out parties.
• Assist Ambassadors in planning, preparing, and presenting in classroom.
• Be sure Ambassadors thank teachers and other school officials.
• Assist in inviting interested youth and adults to "Find Out Parties".
• Assist in preparing and hosting "Find Out Party" which included "hands on
4-H experiences
• Submit written report on classroom presentations and "Find Out Parties" to
Unit office and to Organizer Coordinator - which gives names of youth
and prospects for volunteers.
Time Required:
4 - 8 hours per classroom presentation and find out party which includes
planning, preparation and follow up.
Target Dates:
School presentations - Sept/Oct and Jan/Feb
