VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION
Food Committee
Purpose:
Provide educational opportunities to youth through workshops, coordinate food
judging at fair, coordinate food demonstration contest, and update information
for county food project areas.
Success Criteria:
Planned events and activities will run smoothly and will involve youth and adults
in planning and implementation.
Time Required:
2-4 hours monthly

Update fairbook.
Plan workshop for project day or independent of that day.
Develop a risk management plan for workshops.
Help coordinate food demonstration contest.
Review fair scoresheets and change as needed.
Recruit judges for fair.
Review with the committee each person’s responsibilities for fair set-up and
judging day.
Orient judges and recorders.
Move projects to proper location on fairgrounds for the final display.
Turn in all completed judges packets to the 4-H fair office on day of judging.
Review and change county project materials as needed.
Secure insurance for events as needed.
Promote 4-H events planned by committee in 4-H newsletter and newspaper.
Secure resource persons for events planned by committee.
Target Dates:
September through August.
