VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION 4-H Judges Coordinator Purpose: To work with local 4-H activities committee and 4-H curriculum or project committees to ensure that judges have been secured and prepared. Success Criteria: Judges for 4-H exhibit opportunities will successfully engage 4-H members and enhance the 4-H project learning experience. Responsibilities: • To collaborate with each project or curriculum committee to identify perspective judges. • To prepare and plan a 4-H judges orientation/training experience. • To inform the confirmed judges of the orientation/training experience • To follow-up with both committee members and judges 1-2 weeks prior to the exhibit opportunity to deal with last minute changes and/or issues • To report to Unit Youth Development Staff of any special needs or requests from the judges prior to the exhibit opportunity • To recruit persons as judges and confirm dates, times, places, and judging specifics with judges • To work with Unit staff to coordinate fees and payment of judges Time Required: Time will vary depending on the size of the exhibit opportunities; anticipate 30-40 hours per exhibit opportunity.
