VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION
4-H Junior Leader
Purpose:
To assist adult volunteers of 4-H club in carrying out the organization of
the club or to teach other members through projects or activities.
Success Criteria:
Organization, project, or activity leadership assignment will help other
members meet their educational goals (see role description for
organization, project, or activity leader)
Responsibilities:
To assist with the organization of the 4-H club by:
• Assisting with recruitment and enrollment
• Assisting with program planning
• Assisting officers and committees with their duties
• Assisting with club record keeping
• Communicating with members and parents about club programs
• Communicating with members and parents about unit, regional, and
state activities
• Planning and conducting special club programs
• Helping members evaluate the club program
• Assisting with volunteer management functions
To assist with project and activities by:
• Helping members plan their project work
• Teaching a project workshop
• Helping members as they prepare demonstrations, exhibits, and other
learning experiences
• Helping members evaluate their progress in their project
• Assisting members in completing their records
• Planning and conducting club activities
• Assisting with unit, regional and state activities as interested
Time Required:
Monthly meetings
Target Dates:
September through August
Resources Available:
Support and assistance from adult volunteers and parents
Guidance and support of Unit Extension staff
Printed 4-H materials
Support and assistance from 4-H club members and other junior leaders
Training Opportunities: Unit, regional and state volunteer training sessions
