The Kendall County Expansion & Review Committee Minutes November 9, 2009 Attending: Tim Kellogg, Bev Rehberg, Tom Thomas, Kim Eisnaugle and Jo Ann Britton Absent: Scott Brummel, Eric Lehrer, Pat Van Riper, Kayla Bissonette, Mary Church, Linda Fitzgerald The meeting opened at 7:10 p.m. Bev moved to accept the minutes as presented. Tom seconded the motion. Motion passed. Tom moved to elect Mary as Secretary and Bev seconded the motion. Motion passed. We discussed the development of a power point or DVD program. Tim knows how to make a power point, and with the help of others more knowledgeable, the committee will pursue this for completion and presentation at next year’s Kick-off. Allowing it to be used at the beginning of the new 2010-11 4-H year to promote 4-H awareness and possibly get funding for the U of I Kendall County Extension 4-H programs. The various organizations that we could take this 5-7 minute presentation to were discussed including local civic groups and presenting it at the fair. For next meeting everyone was supposed to come up with ideas for a script to use with the 2008-2009 photos that the Extension office has on file. We would like to include testimonials about who is in 4-H and what they think of it. Kim will check with the state to see what is already available including videos to be included. She will also get a letter out to the 4-H youth in the Public Presentations Project, Theatre Arts, and Filmmaking projects to help, since this is a bigger project than we have committee to handle. Sandra will ask at Council if there are others interested in joining Expansion and Review to help us, Tim will ask Diane Morris from Foundation if she is interested in helping also, and we will contact Barb Nadeau to see if there would be anyone at WSPY and TV 30 that could help us with putting the final presentation together. Tim is willing to look at photos to help us decide which ones to use and guide the script along. We reviewed the 4-H Enrollment Trends for Kendall County and they looked favorable compared to other counties in our region; LaSalle, and DeKalb County, two adjoining counties, but not in our region. We, as a committee, would still like to get an IRB approved form to help us discover why youth choose not to stay in 4-H, and how they can be retained. We judged the four club entries for National 4-H Week. Our next meeting is set for January 14. Please note the date change, as we changed to the second Thursday in January, and moved the March meeting to March 11. Both are set for 7 p.m. at the Extension Office. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m. Kim Eisnaugle Acting Secretary
