4-H Expansion & Review Committee Meeting

We met most of the Goals we set for 2013 Expansion and Review. We did not start a 4-H
Facebook Page but have an Extension Page. We sent items to School open house events with
Clovers and 4-H information. We hit 2 Yorkville, 1 Plano, Newark, Millbrook and Lisbon
schools. It was discussed that we don’t get many interested people without the personal contact,
like doing afterschool in Plano, where we got 4 new members for Rural King.
We went over the power point and discussed what to take out, what to add from the Tufts Study
and Tim will update it by our Dec. 4 meeting to be used as needed. Maybe staff can turn it into a
video we can link to a Facebook page. We can take out the science video in the power point as it
always glitches, add local voice over, someone clean and clear speaking, add information about
the 11 grade study in the Tufts work that is recent and based on seven years of study by
University. Use it to run in a loop at local 4-H activities, or if Extension is doing fairs or expos.
Also maybe Rosie can remake it into a U Tube Video for marketing purposes.
Tim and Tom will go back to the Civic groups, who donated to the 4-H Foundation, tell them
where their money has been used and offer the opportunity to give again. By sighting the Tufts
Study http://ase.tufts.edu/iaryd/researchPositive4H.htm that reinforced what we have presented
about 4-H, will help us maintain the groups that funded us in the past.
We aren’t going to invite the Speakers from Expansion and Review to pick dates for the civic
groups to show it. We need to focus our energy otherwise on young parents for volunteers and
youth. The civic organizations are not the best avenue currently. Facebook is critical to use at the
present time.

We can use the new power point to do another bigger display for fair. We can ask Rosie can
help with display.
Tim submitted the Tuft Study he found on the 4-H web. It reinforces all the PYD of 4-H that we
have been saying and will use to promote membership and adult volunteers at any activity that
we can.
