Graduate Minor in International Studies
For Graduate Social Work Students
Graduate social work students now have the opportunity to enroll in the Graduate
Minor in International Studies, a minor of the International Studies Program at UW.
A graduate minor in international studies provides MSW students the opportunity to
acquire a basic graduate-level familiarity with international relations, global
processes, social development, social welfare, and social professions, and cultural
diversity around the world. Students acquire a foundation in inter-governmental
relations, socio-economic knowledge and concepts, and research methodology.
Graduate social work students work closely with an international studies advisor to
fashion a program of study appropriate for their interests and post-graduate plans.
Prerequisites for Admission
Declaration of an international studies minor is contingent on admission to the
master’s program in social work by the University of Wyoming.
Admission Procedure
Admitted MSW students who are interested in applying for enrollment in the
International Studies minor must apply to the Director of the International Studies
Program. Application is in the form of a one or two page letter of interest that
describes the student’s background, anticipated course of study internationally, and
a brief reason for seeking the minor. An interview with the Director of International
Studies Program is required. Students must be prepared for coursework in
international studies at the graduate level and be willing to take prerequisite
courses if necessary as determined at admission.
