NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Media Contact: Tammi Hanshaw (307) 268-3756 tammi@uwyo.edu July 1, 2016 Trumbull Receives Outstanding Graduate in Communication Award Kristen Trumbull, a senior in the communication program through the University of Wyoming at Casper (UW-Casper), received the Outstanding Graduate in Communication Award from UW’s College of Arts and Sciences. Trumbull will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in May. While pursuing a degree in general studies through Casper College, Trumbull was introduced to the Help Yourself Academy, a class during which college students mentor elementary school children in science activities. She took the class to fulfill her public speaking requirement, and found her passion in the communication field. “My goal is to work in public relations for the local community,” said Trumbull. “I am a museum member and event photographer for Fort Caspar Museum, which goes along with my desire to do PR eventually.” A member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Trumbull was also active in four honor societies, including the Round Table Honor Society at UW-Casper, and Phi Theta Kappa at Casper College. She enjoys being involved with community service, such as the Relay for Life event in Laramie, where she participated in celebration of her mother’s successful battle against cancer. During her educational career through UW-Casper, Trumbull also worked alongside faculty. She worked as a research assistant for Li Li, Ph.D., assistant professor of communication, as well as a teaching assistant for Maria Kuznetsova, Ph.D., assistant lecturer of psychology. In addition, Trumbull completed her internship with the oral communication lab at Casper College during the spring 2016 semester. “The communication program through UW-Casper was challenging and interesting,” said Trumbull. “Dr. Li helped me experience more of the research side of communication, and Dr. Kuznetsova was a big help in my success with the University setting.” -30- Delivering University of Wyoming programs in Casper since 1976
