Citizens Advisory Network OSU Extension Service District, Polk County Tuesday, May 4, 2011, 5:00 p.m. Academy Building, room 212 Present: Jim Clawson, Derek Godwin, Dolores May, Karen Lippsmeyer, Jennifer Wheeler, Tina Andersen, Bernie Faber, Norbert Hartmann, Sheri Beehner, Suzi Busler, Mike Ainsworth, Barbara Nichols, Donna Michaelson Budget Committee citizen appointees: Mike Calef, Darrel Ward and Barbara Nichols were appointed by the Commissioners to serve staggered terms. These three join the three Commissioners to form the 4-H, Master Gardener, Agriculture, Forestry Extension District Budget Committee. Continuing discussions on Program Summary and recommended positions Derek presented a summary of the program area information based on the discussions at the April meeting. To that information, past and possible future staffing numbers were added. This is the type of information that Derek needs to present to Greg Hansen who then provides it to the District Budget Committee. The discussion continued with the following possible scenarios. Additional member comments: Bernie suggested we work with the Polk SWCD to go after grants aggressively and that Derek present the ag numbers (gross farm sales) to emphasize the importance of agriculture to the County.
