Abstract
The dichotomy between religiosity and social sciences approach among muslim social
scientists is still socially and culturally constructed. But among economists, the dichotomic view
has begun to decrease. How is the view among the Minangkabau anthropologists, especially the
holders of Ph. D or doctor degree in anthropology at Andalas University? In superstructure, they
agree with the idea of developing anthropology in Islamic perspectives. In their research, there
are some points of religiosity, such as in choosing the object of research and describing the
relation between Minangkabau customs and Islam. They have no ability in developing whole
research in Islamic perspectives because of their lackness in Islamic knowledge concerning the
social research.
