Teaching activities include a course in livestock evaluation and involvement with food animal courses, coaching the ISU Intercollegiate Livestock Judging Team and the Meat Animal Evaluation Team. The department will provide a graduate student assistantship to support the Lecturer in conducting the coaching responsibilities. Student management responsibilities will include recruitment and academic advising of undergraduates in Animal Science and Preveterinary Medicine. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills along with the willingness and ability to work collaboratively. Required Qualifications: This position will be filled as either a Lecturer or Adjunct Instructor. Candidates interested in pursuing an advanced degree in the department of Animal Science at Iowa State University must meet the required qualification for an Adjunct Instructor. Experience in coaching collegiate livestock judging team students is required. Lecturer: Master’s degree in Animal Science or other related field; training or experience in food animal production practices and contemporary issues; and demonstrated evidence of effectiveness in teaching. Adjunct Instructor: In addition to the above qualifications, the selected candidate must have three years of relevant experience in the animal production or meat processing industry. Preferred Qualifications: Experience which demonstrates knowledge of livestock production systems and exposure to food animal production. Teaching experience at the university level.
