Name: __________________________________ Date: _____________ Resource Room Mrs. Hoffman The Learning Menu We will always try to leave room for a full and satisfying meal because it will only help us grow and develop as independent learners, but occasionally we will not have time for an appetizer, entrée, and dessert due to time constraints. You should always complete your learning menus at home and use them to study! Make sure that you see Mrs. Hoffman with any questions about what you can accomplish when it comes to creating a learning menu to prepare for an upcoming test and quiz! Directions: Complete one activity from each of the courses. Once you have completed each course, raise your hand and please let Mrs. Hoffman know. When you have completed your menu, be prepared for a verbal quiz! Mrs. Hoffman will use the menu you create to quiz you. Appetizers: Start with a light review—you don’t want to fill up before your entrée. Include only the most important details! *Start with those key terms or important ideas given to you at the start of a chapter or unit. - Math: equation types or rules. - English: vocabulary words, key characters, or literary terms. - Science: key terms at the start of a chapter, simple facts to recall, or conversions. - Social Studies/History: key terms at the start of the chapter, information on states, countries, and capitals, important events with dates listed, or significant people in a chapter. -World Language: key words and phrases to know, important information about the culture, or verb conjugation charts. *You have options! (use the colored pencils for color-coding) - Create flash cards - Develop an outline Entrée: Now you must choose something filling and satisfying! Make sure to include all important details and concepts—use your notes, textbooks, or workbooks to really make sure that entrée is worthwhile. * Review all of your work from the unit or chapter. What did your teacher seem to highlight or emphasize in class? What seems really important to review? Get all of the important information in there to make sure that your entrée is useful. * You have options! - Create an outline (only if you did not choose this for your appetizer) - Answer review questions - Create and complete a graphic organizer (choose one)—organize all of that great information so that it’s easy to “digest”. Dessert: Are you ready for something light and sweet? Pull everything together with a cherry on top! *You have options! - Create an informational pamphlet - Create a diagram to connect ideas - Draw a cartoon that reflects the concepts learned
