ADVANCED CLINICAL PRACTICUM/Intern POSITIONS University Counseling Center UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING 2015 – 2016 ACADEMIC YEAR Position Announcement Date: 12-2-2014 The University Counseling Center (UCC) is seeking applicants for two Advanced Clinical Practicum positions. These positions serve as a clinical practicum experience during the academic year for the following allied mental health fields: Clinical Psychology - Advanced Pre-Internship Clinical Training, Counselor Education - Internship in Clinical Mental Health, or Social Work – Advanced Clinical Social Work Field Placement Applicants from any of these academic graduate programs are welcome to apply. These positions offer direct clinical experience and supervision in individual, group, and couples therapy, outreach and prevention activities, crisis intervention, and college student development. Our professional training program is an integral and exciting part of our mission. We work to provide a rich, varied, and challenging site for trainees to develop as professional practitioners and consultants to the university and local community. UCC STAFF The UCC staff includes 3 doctorate level licensed psychologists, 1 doctorate level licensed professional counselor, 2 masters level licensed professional counselors, 1 clinical graduate assistant, and 2or 3 advanced practicum students. UCC SERVICES Services delivered at the UCC include: Group Therapy Time-limited Individual Therapy Couples Counseling Outreach and Prevention Programming and Delivery Continued Clinical Education and Training Crisis Intervention Services POSITION DESCRIPTION The Advanced Practicum position is designed to offer graduate students in the areas of clinical psychology, social work, or counselor education an opportunity to obtain quality training and supervision in the delivery of clinical services and outreach programming. Additionally, it is designed to support the development of professional skills and identity. Our client population includes a wide range of diagnostic diversity (including mood disorders, anxiety, relationship difficulties, eating disorders, and personality disorders), and offers a challenge to the developing clinician. We balance this challenge with an approach to training that is developmental, encouraging, and collaborative. At the completion of training, trainees should be able to provide quality services and practice in accordance with the standards and ethical principles of his/her relevant professional association (e.g., APA, ACA, NASW). The University Counseling Center is an all inclusive agency that serves people from all beliefs, cultures, and backgrounds. A commitment of training at UCC is for clinicians to recognize their own areas of growth, especially those that might impede the client’s discovery process, regardless of the issue. JOB DUTIES 16 – 20 hours a week to include: o 8-12 hours of Direct Service (individual sessions, Intakes, couples sessions, and possibly group sessions for trainees who decide on a 20 hour/week position) o 1 hour Individual Clinical Supervision o 3.5 - 4.5 hours in Meeting Time Including Staff Meeting, Case Conference, and Training Seminar. Group on Group supervision is possible if trainee decides on a 20 hour/week position. 3 Outreach presentations over the course of each semester o POSITION REQUIREMENTS 1) University of Wyoming Graduate Student in advanced standing in Clinical Psychology, Counselor Education, or Social Work. 2) Demonstrated interest and experience in a clinical setting. Experience in delivery of outreach or prevention programming preferred. Experience in process or psychoeducational group is helpful.
