ASC REPORT August 22, 2007 Academic Standards Committee AP Credit Updates: Statistics: Math department has rescinded their approval for granting AP credit for Statistics. Still waiting to hear from the following departments: Art, Biology, Computer Science, Geography, Music and Physics. Board Approval Request: Although several AP request were approved by the respective departments, ASC and AS last semester, current board policy prevents any approved ASC changes to take effect without Board approval. With students preparing to transfer (November 1-30th), Board approval is needed so qualified students can benefit from these AP credits offerings: 1. Macro– Economics: Students with a score of 3 or higher may file a petition for 3 units of credit for ECON 101. 2. Micro – Economics: Students with a score of 3 or higher may file a petition for 3 units of credit for ECON 102. 3. Foreign Language (ASL, FREN, GERM, ITAL, JPNS, SPAN): Students with scores of 3 may file a petition for 102, 5 units 4 may file a petition for 203, 5 units 5 may file a petition for 204, 5 units 4. United States Government/Politics: Students with a score of 3 or higher may file a petition for 3 units of credit for POLS 101. 5. Psychology: Students with a score of 3 or higher may file a petition for 3 units of credit for PSY 110. Petitions Committee Met with 9 students: 8 Petitions to Return to College were approved. 1 Petition to Carry Extra Units was denied- Student on Probation Report submitted by Rinetta Early, Chair
