Introduction to Science Research 2015-2016 Reflection In your reflection, which will be placed at the end of the portfolio, you will be reflecting on your experiment and on all the science competitions you attended this school year. Follow the format described and include all information listed below. This essay must be at least 1 page. It must include an INTRODUCTION, BODY, and CONCLUSION. It must be typed, Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, double spaced. Your essay must include the following information (in paragraphs, in this order): INTRODUCTION: The title of your experiment and a brief explanation of how you carried out your experiment. Why is this experiment important (relate to real world)? Explain 3 strengths of your project. Explain 3 weaknesses of your project. What aspect of your project are you most proud of? Did you achieve your goals set on the onset of your work? Why or why not? Describe the most enjoyable part of your experiment (not including the competitions). Describe the most difficult part of your experiment. What would you change about your experiment if you had to do it again? Why? Explain. Discuss the competitions you were a part of this school year (name of competition, date). Give an overall impression of each competition (what you liked or did not like, etc.). Did you feel well prepared for these competitions? Why or why not? Describe something you did well at these competitions. Was there anything disappointing or frustrating? Be specific. Based on your interactions with the judges, list 2 questions that you were asked or suggestions that were made by the judges. While being judged, what did you do well? If you had a second chance at being judged again, what would you do differently in your presentation? Explain. What did you learn from working on this science project? Describe 2 suggestions Mrs. Healy or Mr. Bewick gave you when you presented to them. Did you use them to improve your project? If “yes” how did you use these suggestions? What recommendations would you give a new research student getting ready to compete at these fairs? This should be a few sentences long. CONCLUSION (A few sentences to sum up your reflection.) This is an essay. Everything should be in complete sentences. Check spelling and grammar! Make sure you include all information discussed above.
