M ISSOU RI COLLEGE Trent on, MO • 660-359-3948 • 800-880-6180 NEWS RELEASE March 9, 2011 Bethany Resident Named Student of the Year by North Missouri Tech Prep Consortium South Harrison R-II High School senior Katelyn Addison was recently recognized as Student of the Year by the North Missouri Tech Prep Consortium, which is based at North Central Missouri College in Trenton. She was selected on the basis of her commitment to career and technical education, academic achievement, involvement in school or community activities, leadership abilities, and her involvement in career and technical education organizations. Katelyn, the daughter of Cliff and Paula Addison of Bethany, was nominated by her instructor, Kelly Hodge of the North Central Career Center in Bethany, where she is enrolled in the Business Education program. Ms. Addison plans to attend the University of Missouri - Columbia and major in Business. In her nomination, Ms. Hodge noted, “Katelyn’s unique creativity and talent has been an asset to our organization and the business department here at the North Central Career Center.” Ms. Addison is currently serving as the Vice President of her Future Business Leaders of America chapter and is a member of the Future Teachers of America. She also serves as Student Council President and is the Vice President of her National Honor Society chapter. In addition to placing in a number of FBLA contests, she has earned academic all-conference awards and has been on the High Honor Roll since her freshman year. As the Tech Prep Consortium’s Student of the Year, Katelyn was awarded a certificate of accomplishment during a recent reception at the Missouri State Capitol. She will also receive a $350 scholarship from North Central Missouri College in Trenton. The Tech Prep program offers students a way to save money and time completing an Associate in Applied Science degree or career certificate. Students can earn the equivalent of free college credit by participating in an articulated program of career and technical education classes while attending high school or an area technical school or career center. North Central Career Center in Bethany provides technical career education in a variety of disciplines and is a key technical education partner with North Central Missouri College.
