Changes to your Chapter Roster Your IIE Chapter Roster has recently changed to include: 1. The Society, Division, and Interest Group affiliation of your members. 2. Member’s Age Why is this important? The SDIG category tells you what areas your members are interested in. You can use this to help plan technical programs, find speakers, and identify local experts. You can use this information to set up mentoring programs for your younger chapter members. For example, when you’re planning your monthly chapter meeting, you can use this roster to find out how many of your members are in Manufacturing. This will tell you whether or not manufacturing-related technical programs will appeal to your members. It also allows you to easily identify those members that can help you identify and develop current manufacturing-related content for your chapter meetings, newsletter, plant tours, etc. What Societies, Divisions, and Interest Groups can your members belong to? Aerospace & Defense Logistics Transportation & Distribution Applied Ergonomics Manufacturing Computer & Information Systems Operations Research Construction Process Industries Consultants Production & Inventory Control Electronics Industry Quality Control & Reliability Energy, Environment & Plant Engineering Engineering Retail Engineering Design Utilities Engineering Economy Facilities Planning & Design Society for Engineering & Management Financial Services Systems Government Society for Health Systems Lean Society for Work Science IIE’s SDIGs have been working hard to increase the benefits they offer members. You can find out more about what these groups offer online at www.iienet.org/networking . If you need more information about Society, Division, and Interest Groups, contact Heather Bradley at hbradley@iienet.org or 770-449-0461 ext. 116. Your members are at varying stages of their career – early to mid to retirement. Young IEs needs “practical advice and information to help them advance in their career, to transition from school to work or in life. Members transitioning out of work or into consulting have different needs. Knowing your chapter’s member demographic allows you to plan and to communicate the value of membership to each group in a way that meets their personal and professional development goals. We strongly encourage you to use this information as you plan your chapter programs and to build a working relationship between the special interest groups and the chapters. Forging a relationship with SDIGs can grow to become a dynamic interaction leading to joint local conferences, articles, or other types of contributions that benefit the entire organization as a whole. Thank you again for all that you do on behalf IIE. 7-16-04
