The Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of the role is to provide a safe and secure environment for staff, students and
visitors to the University on all campuses and properties.
Main Responsibilities

Patrol campus grounds and properties under the control of the University to
ensure that the University remains safe and secure e.g. free from fire, flood
and theft and responding to the intruder alarm as required. To assume
responsibilities of a control room operator to include the operation of CCTV
equipment as required.
Attend and assess incidents and involve the security management team at
the appropriate point, write accurate reports and follow up court
appearances as a witness if required.
To carry out duties in accordance with the University’s traffic regulations to
control car parking, traffic flow and enforcement.

To implement crime prevention/reduction measures in consultation with the
security management team; providing personal protection to VIP’s and royal
visits.

University and relevant external, policies, procedures, standards and codes

Be expected to work flexible hours to fulfil this role and to support the
operational output of the Security section as required. To undertake any

Scope of the Role:
This is an important role requiring good customer care skills to deal effectively with the day-today security issues. The requirement to provide accurate, well-informed information to
managers is essential. This role reports to the Senior Security Officer.
Additional Information:
Because of the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is exempted from the
provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 by virtue of the
Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are therefore, not
