To assume responsibilities of a control room operator to include the operation of CCTV equipment as required. Attend and assess incidents and involve the security management team at the appropriate point, write accurate reports and follow up court appearances as a witness if required. Education Skills/Training To be an effective communicator by telephone and face-to-face; Ability to make independent decisions; Desirable Computer literate; First aid, fire and security awareness Capable of meeting deadlines and working under pressure; Experience/ knowledge Ability to produce written reports. Experience of working as part of a team. Other Clean and smart in appearance. Statutory/ Legal Ability to perform outdoor duties, wear a uniform and work a rotational shift system if necessary. Satisfactory enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service Previous experience in security work. Full valid driving licence Decision Making: i) Taken independently: Day-to-day problem solving Patrol campus grounds ii) In collaboration with others: Making a decision on call out; Evacuation of buildings in the case of fire and flood emergencies, and liasing with emergency services. iii) Referred to your manager: Staff issues; Serious accidents. Scope of the Role: This is an important role requiring good customer care skills to deal effectively with the day-today security issues. The requirement to provide accurate, well-informed information to managers is essential. This role reports to the Senior Security Officer.
