Mid-semester Assessment Policy
 Students should be provided with a mid-term
assessment of their performance in a course




This is not a grade
Relates individual performance to the mean of
the class
Many courses provide this in one form or
another
Students strongly favor this (89%) while
faculty opinion is mixed

 Should the policy be mandatory or voluntary


Students feel it should be mandatory because
all of the volunteers are doing it
Faculty again are mixed with some who
currently provide the information feeling that it
should not be mandatory

 Reporting mechanisms suggested:

WebCT can provide everything including
individual and group data
Excel plus SIS for emailing class provides
almost the same capabilities
Students would be happy to have any
mechanism used and leave it to the faculty
