Apologies: Philip Clarkson; Ann Gervasoni. 3. Minutes of the AGM in Melbourne July, 2013 Motion: That the minutes of the 2013 Annual General Meeting held in Melbourne be accepted. [Moved: MG] 4. Matters Arising from the Previous Minutes All matters arising dealt with in portfolio reports. 5. Reports: 5.1 President’s Report: Merrilyn Goos Merrilyn announced her retirement as president and advised the meeting of the constitutional requirements. Merrilyn spoke of her aims as president – mentoring new executive members, liaising with other associations, enhancing MERGA’s presence in our geographical region. Evidence of success was the conference in Singapore and Springer’s approach to MERGA re publishing MERJ. Motion: That the President’s report be accepted. [Moved: MG] 5.2 Treasurer's Report: Janeen Lamb JL presented balance sheet as at 30 June 2014. Jenni Way questioned auditing costs – face to face cost of working with accountant Motion: That the Treasurer’s report be accepted. [Moved:JL: Robyn Jorgenson] 5.3 VP (Research) Report: Gloria Stillman Kim Beswick awarded the MERGA Research Award Early Career Award: Lisa Darragh GS thanked those who assisted on panels MERGA’s involvement in journal expert body consultation Motion: That the Vice President’s (Research) report be accepted. [Moved: GS; Seconded: Sue Wilson] Merrilyn thanked Gloria for her work on the MERGA executive over the years. 5.4 VP (Conferences) Report: Jodie Hunter Thanked Melbourne team for 2013 conference and Sydney team. Thanked conveners of review panels Announced 2015 conference on Sunshine Coast Thanked Bobbie Hunter and Merrilyn Goos for their mentorship. Motion: That the Vice President’s (Conferences) report be accepted. [Moved: JH; Seconded: Peter Grootenboer] 5.5 VP (Publications) Report: Joanna Higgins RiMEA: planning is well underway. Springer will be publishing the next edition. MERJ: changes to editorial teams. Vince Geiger joined in 2013. Daya joined in 2014 along with Peter Sullivan. Peter Grootenboer has stepped down. JH thanked Peter Grootenboer for his contribution over six years. JH encouraged reviewers to turn around reviews in a timely manner. No special issue in 2014. MTED: currently in transition from print. Vol 16, 2, will be the first online only issue. JH thanked Andy Yeh for his assistance with open journal system. Details about open journal system will be in a MERGA newsletter. Special issue will be in 2016. A proposal has been accepted for 2015 from Bobbie Hunter, Jodie Hunter and Glenda Anthony. Conference proceedings will be online as soon as possible. JH thanked everyone involved in all aspects of publication including Springer. [Moved: Joanna Higgins: Seconded: Jenni Way] 5.6 VP (Development) Report: Tracey Muir No recipient for Beth Southwell Practical Implications Award in 2014. No teacher bursaries this year. Newcomers’ function ran again this year with approximately 30 people attending. Opportunities for newcomers to network have occurred throughout the conference in 2014. We have continued to maintain strong ties with AAMT in 2014 via Connect with Maths, Top Drawer and Reach for the Stars. TM thanked members of the executive, particularly GS and MG. General Business: David Leigh Lancaster: Drew attention of MERGA members to the Withdrawal of Census at Schools. D.L.L. has circulated the notifying email to Judy Anderson and Catherine Attard.
